The goals of the Institute for Adventist Studies in Mormonism (IASM) are:

  1. To bring together resources assisting Seventh-day Adventists (SDA) in understanding and interacting with persons of Latter-day Saint (LDS) background.
  2. To express a positive appreciation towards Latter-day Saints and for their faith. While SDA teaching differs from LDS, and IASM is not an ecumenical project, we prefer to sustain a positive attitude toward our Mormon friends. We have a great deal in common.
  3. To help Latter-day Saints better understand Seventh-day Adventists.
  4. To facilitate the collection of insights of both, former LDS and of SDA. To help SDAs develop tact and skill in sharing their faith with Mormons.
  5. To reach out in kindness to individuals of LDS background while finding ways to thoughtfully share God’s latter-day message as we understand it.
  6. To maintain an internet presence functioning both as a gateway for SDAs interested in sharing with Mormons, and a point-of-contact for inquiries from LDS about Seventh-day Adventism.
  7. To publish documents on the web that will assist in the work stated above.
  8. To introduce the writings of contemporary prophecy through Ellen G. White to individuals of LDS background.
  9. To generate and pursue other appropriate projects and initiatives involving for friendly sharing of our faith with Latter-day Saints.
